What Defines Sexy to a Woman?

Women are a lot more complex than men when they decide who is sexy and who is not.

Have you ever thought about why some people are considered sexy, while others, possibly of similar physical attributes, are not? How has the image of sexy changed over time?

The Switcheroo

If we look way back in time, for a while women did not have a choice in a mate, they were simply chosen. A mans ability to provide outweighed his good looks, or even personal hygiene. Women had to play the role of being attractive in order for her to be protected and provided for. Finally they were given some abilities in some cultures to accept or reject a mans advances.

What women used to find attractive in a male has changed over time. Once women were given the ability and rights to refuse a man, men had to work harder at being desirable. Some work harder than others, but let us not discount that different women have different tastes, what appeals to one, may not appeal to another.

Rock Star, Doctor, or Athlete

A guy can be as ugly as heck, and I am not saying that these guys are, just that a guy can be ugly, but if he is in a rock band there are thousands of women who will claim that he is the sexiest person on Earth. For some reason women, and especially girls are enchanted by people in the music industry, often to the point that they unrealistically see themselves trying to enter into a relationship with these people. Sure some girls do get the rock star, but there are more rocks in the world, than there are stars. I don’t know what that means, it just sort of typed itself, and sounded good. In sort, girls, if you are really thinking that you are going to meet a rock start and he is going to ask you to marry him, think again.

Interesting read. I’ll be the first to admit…from first hand experience, women do not find inventors sexy. And, what is really sexy about an inventor when they are hardly never seen outside of the lab or their workstation. No tan, no sexy body and all brains.

    God Bless,

Women are neither equal nor different to men – they are inferior. Women rarely if ever organize themselves effectively because they are unable to think logically.

A woman has the form of an angel, the heart of a serpent, and the mind of an ass.

Women are not half as sensitive about their sins as about their follies.

If all men told the truth the tears of women would create another flood.

Where neither love nor hatred is in the game a woman is a mediocre player.

Women for the most part do not love us. They do not choose a man because they love him, but because it pleases them to be loved by him.

Women have no sympathy . . . And my experience of women is almost as large as Europe. And it is so intimate too. Women crave for being loved, not for loving. They scream at you for sympathy all day long, they are incapable of giving any in return for they cannot remember your affairs long enough to do so. – [Florence Nightingdale]

A woman rarely discards one lover until she is sure of another.

Woman’s dearest delight is to wound man’s self-conceit, though man’s dearest delight is to gratify hers. There is at least one creature lower than man.

Even a fickle woman is loyal to one man – until she prefers another.

Democracy is woman’s greatest invention. Indeed, it even reflects her character: purposeless, irrational, subject to public opinion and passing fashions, rambling, confused, underhanded, scheming, in love with its own purity.

I shrug my shoulders in despair at women who moan at the lack of opportunities and then take two weeks off as a result of falling out with their boyfriends.

No wonder women live longer than men – look how long they remain girls.

To find fault with a woman’s intellect you must first find her intellect.

It takes two to make a woman into a sex object.

Nature intended women to be our slaves; . . . they are our property, we are not theirs. They belong to us, just as a tree that bears fruit belongs to the gardener. What a mad idea to demand equality for women! . . . Women are nothing but machines for producing children. – [Napoleon Bonaparte]

No woman ever found a rich man ugly.

There are women who offer their bodies as though they were bestowing some inestimable gift upon you.

I had half expected this article to be empty. I saw a book entitled ‘What men understand about women.’ Every page in the book was blank. How can we expect men to understand us when we do not understand ourselves? We truly are complicated beings. Also very expensive to keep. We divide the labour equally at our house. Hubby makes the money and I spend it. I can’t help it if I am better at my job than he is at his:)
Why does the Bible say that woman is the weaker vessel? Because men are like Tupperware – strong and useful. Women are like fine crystal – useful but also beautiful, and somewhat frail. That’s why women sing and men burp.

are you guys serious? i read that “man” version of this (”what defines sexy to a man”) and didn’t comment bc i’m not a man, i don’t know how they think. but this one is just ridiculous, generalizing that woman are attracted to smiles and not bodies, we’re more picky bc back in the day women couldn’t vote, we all like sweaty sportsmen, and rockstars drive us crazy, so crazy that we can’t distinguish fantasy from reality? how patronizing! c’mon give us some credit!

and did anyone read comment#5? seriously what a load of bollocks!

    p.s. that bum doesn’t look like man’s!

This is a great article and I agree that women have various and varying views on what’s hot and sexy. Every woman has different tastes and there is no set image of sexy that drives every woman crazy in love.

PS: Nelson Doyle. While it may be in you personal experience that women do not find inventors attractive or sexy I have to disagree with you because I find the inventive, inovative, and scientific type of men very sexy and attractive. I love the brainy type, mainly because they are the ones who go far in i=life and leave a mark on society.

Well, Im perhaps one of the most sexy men I know… i know that sounds arrogant… but its not only because of my appearance, dress well, stable, etc. its mainly because I am very confident, almost aloof and indifferent (which signals a lot of women trying to obtain something they feel they can not have “challenge”)… there are literally times where I can walk into a crowded room and get everyone’s head turning… of course your biggest fans will be the ones that turn to their friends and claim “who the hell does he think he is”… without even knowing who you are yet… be careful, sometimes people immediately “hate” you is sending signals how intrigued they are by you… of course you can screw all that up by going up and being arrogant, poorly spoken or an entire dweeb… you also have to know how to relax, calm down, make someone feel comfortable… that exudes sex appeal
