A Marine’s Birthday Message
This is my own Marine Corps Birthday message to celebrate another chapter in our war fighting history. Remember Nov 10! — Orrrah!
The landscapes, faces, values, and government may change — that is life — however — it is upon your own standing that you guard against such deviations from your own core values for in many regards, you are still at your post and you are still guarding not the gates — but the physical checkpoints around your neighborhoods and communities. We celebrate another passing of a birthday, and you can be proud of what you have accomplished, what you may accomplish in the future, and what you can observe from this generation of Marines that continue the fight, even though it may seem that the average Joe has given up. This is your test. These are your days and your hours. Make them count — make the things you do and the fellow Marine you help, and the people you provide for count.
The Marines that have given their lives in the past, the Marines that have given their lives in the now, and the Marines that will give their lives in the future, have given all of us the freedom and human right to live as free individuals and carry their very precious gift to the next generations and beyond. Be Proud. Walk tall — and if you can’t walk tall then live tall. You’ve all made the grade, have been tested time and time again, and the torch that has been handed from past Marine Generations have found a glorious home with yours. With that, I’m very sure that the Corps is in great hands and will continue to be the best fighting force of the United States.
