Army National Guard
A Story about one national guardsman in the army. Very in depth to the life of the army.
I am in the Army National Guard and I can tell you that it is the best thing I could have ever done in my life.
I first started out in the active Army then went to the guard.
Ever since this war started I have been told ” I think you are doing a great job, thank you for everything and God bless you.” Which made me feel good about the choice of the military was smart. Now do not get me wrong there are those people who are not so nice, they call me things like “baby killer” and “murderer” and I have been spit upon as well. When people call me names or say things bad toward George W. Bush I just look at them with a smile and say, ” I thank you for your opinion but please remember that I am out there fighting for you and the right to speak your mind. If it was not for the military we would not be able to speak our minds without chance of going to jail or even worse getting killed for it. ”
As I sit here writing this I start to think about the men and women that are over there fighting and some dying for the United States of America and my heart starts to feel heavy with sadness, Why? Well I will tell you, I know that people not in the military speaking against the war makes me think why are we over there dying for the people who do not care weather or not we have the freedom to live the way we choose. Then I look at my family, my wife and our two one year old twins and then the sadness turns to gratefulness. Yes I do feel sad for them dying but I know in my heart they are not doing it in vain.
In closing I thank the men over there for their love for the country and the dedication for freedom. God bless them all and bless the families of fallen soldiers.

Why did you not give specific examples of life in the NG? What is-was your highest rank? Where did you serve your time; what was-is your military occupation?
I was in active duty 64-67, and in the
guard 2x, in 74 and 76. Was in
ROTC afterwards too. Served in Italy
and at Camp Roberts. Left NG service as
a Sgt E5. IN Italy, was a trainer of
weapons and vehicles.
TELL us more next time!
I even have an article about Marostica, Italy, where the city square holds a living chess match. And about Venice, etc.
