About a year ago, my friend told me about the Russia military build aircraft named as Black Eagle instead of Golden Eagle. But about few days ago, I figured out, both are different. The Golden Eagle is name assign to “Su-43/S-37″ MFA, meanwhile Black Eagle is a nickname assign for Russian “MBT”, T-95 in the future.

Both are mastering different context. One is mastering the sky and the others are on the ground.

What I want to write down today is the T-95 ‘black eagle’. The Black Eagle is developed as Abrams and “Merkava” tank killer. It is the Russia next generation of Main Battle Tank. Similar to Israel built tank philosophy, the crew safety in the battlefield will be highly protected. The primary tank chassis will probably develop from T-80 and T-90.

Russia determined its ambition to advancing the “Merkava”, Israeli built tank and Abrams, US built tank technology. Russia revealed some information related to this under development tank will enter service after 2010.

This “Chyorny Oryol” or Black Eagle is being developed since 1980, the times of the cold war. It’s built under “Leningrad Kirov Plant(LKZ)” that headed by “Nikolai Popov”. The preliminary project code is “object 640”.

In 1993, Russia armed forces sought for a replacement on T-72 tanks. Five years later, the T-90 rolled out and entered the Russia armed forces. The technology is similar to US and Israeli built tank. It mounted with more powerfull machine, advanced ATGM “Kontakt-5 ERA”, laser warning receiver, EMT-7 neutralize the electromagnetic field and “jammer”, Night Vision Google, thermal vision technology and powerfull light weight steel alloy composite. The tank development manufacture has moved to “Omsk” at 1997. At June 1999, Russia exhibited the Black Eagle prototype to the public.

Russia is promising that their latest tank capable to annihilate the Abrams or “Merkava MBT” on the battlefield. It’s able to hold certain of anti tank weaponry attack. It’s protected with the new generation of reactive protection shell. The tank dome is well protected structure from aircraft or helicopter attack.

The crew cabin has been moved backward to protect the crew from weapon frontal hit. Three active protection systems are “Drozd-2″; “Shtora-6″ and “Shtora-8B”. It’s a visual protection system with aircraft anti radar mounted. It can detect aircraft and helicopter fly in range 16 kilometers away.
