Civil Air Patrol

The description of what it is like and how to get involved! WARNING: if you choose to join Civil Air Patrol please relize that you are not required to join the military or will you ever work with firearms!!!

So what exactly is Civil Air Patrol you may ask?  Well let me tell you right now that it is the best thing that you could ever get you child involved with.  Civil Air Patrol (also know as C.A.P.) is the Auxiliary of the Air Force which is simple terms means that it is the volunteer side of the Air Force.  Anyone can join and is a great opportunity to give your child or yourself leadership qualities to go on in life.  follow me through out this article and I will explain exactly what you need to get started and what the experience will be like.

To start off let me explain to you exactly what we do.  C.A.P. has three missions and they are Cadet Programs, Aerospace education and the most important one of all Search and Rescue!  the first mission basically focuses on the Cadets (your children) Cadet programs consist of stuff like helping out at air shows or Doing what we call a O-ride in a Cessna plane which in plane English is a orientation ride to show you what the plane is like and how to fly it.  The second mission is Aerospace education.  both you and your child (if you decide to join with your child) will learn everything about aerospace from the history to the present and how airplanes actually fly.  the final mission is search and rescue, cadets are trained to go out and find crashed planes, crashed boats or even missing people.  this takes place within the united states and in your area (basically the same job as the national guard) and no we do NOT carry any kind of firearm.

The history of C.A.P. is actually very interesting.  we began back in WW2 as target practice for the gun ships and submarine hunters to find German subs. (Thank god we aren’t target practice anymore)

If you are interested in joining go to gocivilairpatrol.com or just google civil air patrol and find yourself a squadron near you.  choosing to take the path as a civil air patrol er will make you and your child better people due to the fact we bestow leadership skills in you to help you be successful in the real world
