Did The Military Drop The Ball?
Fort Hood Shootings.
Nidal Malik Hasan gave the military many warnings that he was a threat and a potential bomb waiting to go off during his career as military doctor. During a medicalconference, he spoke not of medical issues but of suicide bombers, Muslim philosophy and other red flag topics that should have alerted someone that he was dangerous.
He associated with radical Imams and advocated for Muslims being declared conscientious objectors and attended a Mosque where two of the 9-11 terrorists also attended services. He told everyone of his malcontent with the military that he was a part of and who trained and rewarded him with the high rank of Major.
Nidal Malik Hasan was and is a terrorist and the fact that no one reported his behavior and comments is a crime in my opinion. He was and is a criminal waiting for the opportunity to exact his hatred upon the very military that he claimed to serve and on the country where he was born and educated.
Yesterday was Veterans Day and a lot of us thanked those who serve, defend and protect and assure our liberty. I thanked my husband who was a pilot in the Air-force and my thoughts and prayers went out to every single member of all branches of our military.
Millions of people remembered those who died defending our country and who stand in harm’s way in many places in the world. Parades and speeches were made in their honor. What didn’t happen was the most important remembrance of all….the military didn’t take the time to protect their own Stateside at one of the largest United States Military bases in the world.
No one paid attention to a high ranking officer who’s job was to council and bring comfort to those who were being deployed to fight for our freedom. No one noticed that this high ranking official was a malcontent who hated what we stand for and harbored thoughts of destroying all those who protect us. He was one of ours…theirs… and yet they didn’t bother to report that he was a ticking time bomb for a long time.
I blame Nidal Malik Hasan for killing and wounding the men and women at Fort Hood, but I also blame those who listened to his rantings and did nothing.
Perhaps the vetting process is insufficient when handing out titles and jobs in the military or maybe there are just too many people to process to pay attention to one person who seems off and apparently psychotic. Perhaps we should figure out a way to determine if a person’s religious beliefs will come before country.
As politically incorrect as this is, I do not trust Muslims to protect me and my country. I cannot forget 9-11 and I simply can’t be sure who is a practitioner of the true Muslim faith or the fanatic twisted version of the Koran that teaches that it is honorable to kill innocent people for some kind of prize that awaits them in heaven.
I have met Muslims who are peaceful and would never dream of blowing themselves and others up for some insane promise of sexual and physical pleasure rather than Godly and spiritual fulfillment. Their numbers probably exceed the fanatics who make the news and cause mayhem…but, who knows which is which and who will strike next? Certainly, our own military didn’t know and as a result thirteen people are dead and over 40 wounded.
Perhaps until the military can figure out how to protect their own, they should not allow muslims to be a part of the armed services.
I don’t care about being politically correct, but I do care about protecting the United States from terrorists and therefore it’s time to exclude those who may or may not be enemies of our people. To me, that would be the greatest gift of thanks we could give our veterans.
