Does America Have Heros Anymore

                                    Traits that make an American hero

            It seems that most people in our society do not believe that there are hero’s any more. It is easy to see how they feel that way.  It does not take long to see that our society has become overly violent and full of hate. Sadly, these people can not see the true hero’s through that cloud of violence. If they could see through the cloud of violence they would see that there are hero’s in America: the men and women of the United States military.

            A true hero must have loyalty as one of his or her traits. Loyalty is when a person devotes themselves to something or someone. This trait is really lacking in today’s society. Family members and friends stab each other in the back. Not all people are lacking this trait, and these people are the men and women of the United States military. There are many examples of how a soldier can demonstrate their loyalty the fact that they never leave a soldier behind is just one of the many ways a soldier shows he is loyal.

            Another trait that a true hero must have is courage. Courage is the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face great adversity. This is another trait that is not found much in today’s society even though people may claim to courageous. The only problem is they do not know what it really means to have courage. The soldiers of the military do know what it means to be courageous. The soldiers show courage in many ways, fighting in the war is a great example of how they show courage.

            Selflessness is great trait for heroes to have. Selflessness is when somebody is willing to help other people out even if they don’t know the person. There are more people in today’s society that are selfish than selfless. One of the ways the United States military soldiers show that they are selfless is that they fight for all of the people in America. The fact that they fight for people they don’t even know is just one of the ways they show that they are selfless.

            A hero must have discipline to show that they will follow the rules of today’s society. Discipline is when someone is trained to act in accordance to the rules. A lot of the young people in today’s society do not follow the rules. They don’t care about what others tell them, and a lot of people are in prison because of this. The U.S. military are taught to obey and respect the rules that are given. They always do what is right and what is the law. They always obey the rules is yet anther way they show that they are disciplined.

Duty is another significant trait for a hero to have. Duty means carrying out an assigned task. A lot people in society do not do the work that they are supposed to do. This is why there are a lot of people who drop out of school. The U.S. military always carry out their mission and responsibilities, as long as it does not conflict with their morals. They always carry out the mission is a good example of how they show duty.

            Integrity is when someone is when you follow morale principles. This is lacking in today’s society.
