Getting a Gun License

Due to the Constitutions Second Amendment every American has the right to bear arms. Which means that you have the right to own a gun. Although each state has it’s own requirement on what you must do to uphold this right. Some states require the gun to be licensed, while others require the gun owner to be licensed. Before you attempt to purchase a gun you need to wait until you have passed all state requirements.

  1. Check your local State website for individual rules and laws on how to obtain a license. There you will find what type of license you will need. A link is provided below that will give you each state’s individual website.
  2. Submit a criminal background check. Some states require that you go through this before they will allow you to apply. The reason they do this check is to find out if you have lost your right to own a gun.
  3. Attend a firearms safety course. When you pass the course you will be given a certificate. Keep this certificate. Check with your state to find out dates, times, and fees.
  4. Submit your fingerprints at the local Sheriffs Department.
  5. Submit your application with all of the required materials, background check, fingerprints, training course, and any fees that are owed.
  6. Wait for the application to be accepted, you will receive notification by mail.
