On the Advancements of War

Some thoughts born from news on recent upgrades on how we wage war.

New technology brings us amazing machines that can kill without even commands from on our side. These new creations stir up many thoughts, but for me, this change shows perspective.

As of now, we have robots fighting human enemies, controlled by humans many miles away. I could talk about the benefits and deleterious affects for hours, but that’s for another time. The next step up would be for our enemies to start using remotely controlled fighting machines, making a war without casualties. This seems better, but would still waste billions of dollars on building them.

The next step above this futuristic automatic war would be a virtual-robotic war. A simulation of war, probably akin to modern games, would replace the use of machines in battle. Let’s think for a moment the use of war. War is started when a conflict cannot be resolved diplomatically. It’s like a game of “rock, paper scissors” between friends, it decides the winner.

Now let’s add these thoughts to our model of futuristic warfare. Our unresolvable conflicts are decided by people playing video games. Remember, this is two steps above our current situation. Think about it.
