Our Soldiers
A way to be close to our Soldiers in Iraq for the Holidays. Please join me in this special Moment for our Soldiers.
Back when the Persian Gulf War (1991) . My Mother and I did a large Christmas Tree in honor of the Soldiers. We put out the word requesting everyone to please send us any picture of their loved one over there. So we could hang them on our tree that would be lighted at 6:pm on Christmas Eve and stay lit until the 26th.
We started receiving pictures from all over the US. With letter from loved ones telling us who they where and what their relationship was to the Soldier. Some was Mothers, Sisters, Aunts and Uncles, Wife’s . Asking us to add their Soldier to our tree. And I did just that. We made them all Weather proof and start doing the tree.
By Christmas Eve we had a Tree so full of pictures from all across the US. So many people drove out to see the tree. I wish I still had a Picture of it. But, When mom passed all her things was not given to us. But, it truly was beautiful.
Now our soldiers are back over seas in Iracq this time. And there are so many that will not be with their families. And trust me I understand from a Mothers view what that will feel like. Because my Son has become a Soldier. And he is my only child at that.
So I would love to ask every one to Please join me in a very special moment. I would like to ask that every one get a flashlight for each member of your families. And Please get the word to your Soldiers to Do the same. Please make sure you get them Batteries.
Then at 9:pm ct. Please adjust time frame for your area. The reason I am saying 9:pm. Is because in Iracq it will be 5:am. And by then they should be up and it will be Christmas Day for them in Iracq. Yet it will only be Christmas Eve for us. But it is our lights and theirs that will light the skis.
And the Christmas Carol I would like every one to sing is Silent Night. So Please join in with me to send a bit of love, and Blessings to all of the Soldiers in Iracq. There might be an ocean between them and us. But, we are all together in our hearts.
