12 People Killed and 31 Wounded in Fort Hood Shooting — By Emily Friedman and Richard Esposito — ABC news — Nov. 5, 2009
Twelve people were killed and thirty-one were wounded in a shooting at a Texas Military Base. Fort Hood was this Texas military base in which the shooting took place. The suspected shooter was identified by ABC news as being Major Nadal Malik Hasan. Major Nadal was a psychiatrist at Fort Hood. Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone was the main interviewee of ABC news. He said that a gunman entered the Soldier Readiness Facility, where soldiers who are preparing to go to Iraq are for their last minute medical check ups and dental treatment. Hasan using two handguns opened fire upon the unexpecting soldiers in the Soldier Readiness Facility. “The gunman opened fire and essentially due to the quick respond of the police forces was killed,” said Cone. The gunman killed 11 people and wounded 31 before he was finally shot. There were several suspected accomplice shooters who were later tracked to an adjacent facility. Fort Hood, being the largest US military base in the word, has had 483 soldiers die from their facility alone since the Iraq was started.
The deaths of the US soldiers in the Fort Hood military base had a huge impact upon the United States. This not only caused the deaths of 11 dedicated soldiers to the United States, this caused a huge disturbance in the military. If one of their own soldiers is willing to rebel against their own country and shoot and kill those who protect them, then there is obviously an unresolved problem about the Iraq war that many Americans agree is being handled incorrectly. If someone is willing to take up arms to defend their beliefs against their own country then the Iraq war is really not being handled properly in the eyes of many Americans. Even Barrack Obama exclaims that “It is difficult enough to lose” soldiers overseas, but it is “horrifying that they should lose their lives at an Army base in the U.S.”. In total, 12 people died and 31 were wounded, one of which was a police officer.

This was an act of terrorism. The war will not end until we bury Islam. Period.
