Shooting at Fort Hood

A summary of the events at Fort Hood.

On Thursday, November 5, in Fort Hood, Texas, a soldier began shooting a stream of gunfire that left 12 people dead and 31 others wounded. He used two handguns in the attack.  The gunman was suspected to be Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan.

Hasan began shooting around 1:30p.m. at the Soldier Readiness Center, where soldiers were being prepared to be medically treated.  During the time of the shooting there was a graduation ceremony going on in the Readiness Center for the soldiers that had graduated while being deployed.  The base was closed down after the shooting and the wounded were dispersed to hospitals in central Texas.  Though some other bases employed extra security measures, no other bases were closed.
