Top 10 Modern US Airplanes

by Jager in Military, July 20, 2009

The United States’ best modern airplanes.

C-130 Hercules

The most used cargo plane in the world. Has served the U.S. military faithfully for over fifty years.

C-17 Globemaster

Much bigger cargo capacity than C-130 but not as widely used.

F-16 Falcon

Older than the F-35 and F-22 but it still packs a punch.

F-35A Lighting II

New Lockheed plane to replace the F-15, F-16 and F-18. Better performance but not by much.

B-52 Stratofortress

Massive bomber that has the mother-of-all payloads.

A-10 Thunderbolt II

Commonly called the A-10 “Warthog”, it is an amazing tank-buster with its 30mm Avenger cannon. The only things that limit this plane are its slow speed and large radar signature.

A/C-130U “Spooky”

The best gunship to enter the U.S. military. Newer model of the A/C-130 Pave Aegis. Instead of two 20mm Vulcan cannons, the “Spooky” has one larger 25mm cannon (along with the 40mm and 105mm cannons that both variants have).

 F-18C Super Hornet

U.S. Navy plane designed for landing on carriers. They are fly-by-wire and pack a big punch.

F/A-22 Raptor

New project to replace the F-15 Eagle, supposed “stealth” capabilities that are ruined when any external weapons are attached. Performance about equal to the F-15, not worth their cost.

F-15E Strike Eagle

Very effective and well built airplanes. They have a big payload which makes them ideal for CAS.

Check out this video that proves how well made they are:
