Ulysses S. Grant

Genera-in-chief of the Union Army;  Grant was appointed bridgadier general of volunteers by abraham Lincoln. He won the first major Union victory. Served in Mexican-American and Civil Wars.

Andrew Jackson

Major General; Served in Revolutionary War, Creek War, War of 1812, First Seminole War. Jackson was a militia messenger at age 13 and was captured; first president to be held prisoner of war.

William H. Harrison

Major General; Tecumesh’s War, Battle of Tippecanoe and War of 1812. Harrison became a hero after success at the Battle of Thames.
