Tribute to Our Troops

A tribute to all of our men stationed overseas, fighting for our freedom.

It is very hard for us to imagine the inner sense of the heart it takes to volunteer to join the Armed Forces. Those that feel the call of duty to be deployed to a place where the chances of dying are high cannot be questioned of their courage. We will never truly know how many of our warriors are stationed overseas. There are various sources that tell of one number, but they cannot be relied upon for the truth. Many soldiers are stationed in many countries that most of us know nothing about.

Try to imagine being in a war zone. You can be killed or maimed at any given time or place. Try to imagine the fear these men must feel day after day, hour after hour, not knowing if the next moment is their time to die. Try to imagine being away from your loved ones and friends for months or even years. The longing they must feel to come home brings a tear to the eye.

There are many Americans who give their time to send cards, letters, care packages and much more to try and comfort these brave men. For those who give these things, honor must be given. There are far too many Americans who go by, day after day, never giving a thought to the men who fight for our freedom. We live a hustling, bustling life, running hither and yon, caring for our families and working our jobs without taking the time to think of these things.

Many soldiers have lost limbs and are mentally scarred for life. Many of them say they want to return to their comrades in arms. Imagine feeling the sense of courage and duty to even think such a thing. It is hard to understand the rigors these men have gone through just to walk again, just to talk again, just to stand as the men there once were,

For the families who have lost a loved one in battle, I pray for you. Many soldiers are brought back from these countries in body bags. We do not even know the truth of what happened to some of them. We cannot rely on our government to tell us the truth about the missions they were sent on or the danger the faced.

Soldiers overseas help the starving and distraught people of many nations. They build playgrounds for the children. They teach valuable lessons to many of our foreign friends caught up in these disasters. Do not forget that many of the people of these countries rely upon our fighting men to save their lives. They count on our soldiers for help and protection.

Millions of Americans feel this war is unjustified. It is hard to argue against that decision. As for me, I feel that no matter the reasons, our brave men deserve the best we can provide. God bless our troops. God bless America.
