US Military Size and Spending

An essay detailing US military size and spending.

While most people believe that the U.S has the largest army, this is mostly untrue. The U.S does however have the most technologically advance army in the world. China has 2,255,000 troops almost twice the size of the U.S 1,473,900. The U.S Army has better trained soldiers than the Chinese and the U.S army has better benefits, educational and financial, for veterans and serving soldiers. The U.S Army and the Chinese PLA army never actually faced off anytime recently, when the Chinese stepped up their military financing. The Chinese Army can spare more soldiers than the U.S, so their strategy is not based on protecting soldiers, making them a little bit more flexible than U.S troops

The U.S does have the largest army in the western world. Some U.S allies by number of troops are Russia with 1,068,000, South Korea with 655,000 and Turkey with 514,850 and Egypt with 450,000 and France with 259,050. By these figures we are able to determine that the U.S has the most active troops among its allies. The U.S army also has a large international presence in countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are in need of support. They also have many bases in European countries such as Germany, Britain and France. The U.S has, by far, the most international military presence.

The U.S has one of the best economies in the world and this helps finance the various military institutions that research and create the advanced weaponry of the U.S army. This year the U.S is spending about $515.4 billion on military related spending. This includes operations and maintenance, military personnel, procurement, research, development, testing & evaluation, military construction, family housing, resolving and management funds.

The U.S army will most likely still be the most technologically advance and second largest army but its budget will probably suffer many cutbacks due to the current economic situation. This will still put the U.S on top of other countries, because the economic situation affects most large countries.
