US Tests a Missile Defense System

A spokesman said it was a crucial step in plans for the missile defense system the US wants in Europe.

The target missile was launched from Alaska on the island of Kodiak before being tracked down,Intercepted, and Obliterated by an interceptor launched from California.

The US wants to build a radar on Czech soil and put interceptor rockets in Poland as a defense against what Washington describes as “rogue” states (aka Russia).

Russia has said it will deploy short-range Iskander missiles in the Kaliningrad region to “neutralize” the US shield.

But the Russian Government has expressed a willing desire to discuss the issue with the upcoming administration of Barack Obama, who will replace George W. Bush as US president in January.

Correspondents say the president-elect, Barack Obama, agrees with the missile defence system in principle, but it will face more scrutiny after he takes office.

Personal Opinion:

I think that the government should invest time in our defense network but should also take into consideration that we are not here to bully other country’s around. It sounds like the Government wants to put a radar system in Russia Because they don’t trust the Russian government to hold its ground and not try and attack the US or other allied country around the world. We should be more concerned about communist nations like North Korea (don’t criticize me if I say the wrong country), and Iran. The World hinges on the “friendly” relations between the US and Russia, and to me, it looks like the Government is looking for a fight with a Nuclear Powered nation.
