This is a list and description of the main and most popular weapons of WW2.
Most Well Know World War Two Weapons

M1 Garand: The M1 Garand rifle was the first semi-automatic rifle to be used by infantry units. It played a great role in the Second World War, and Korean and Vietnam wars. It was released in 1936 and was dismissed from service in 1963. It was manufactured in the United States and mainly used by the United States. The M1 Garand use a .30 caliber Springfield cartridge and held 8 rounds in a clip. The Garand weighed in at only 9 and a half pounds and was 43.5 in long. The M1 was designed after the M1903 Springfield rifle. The army wanted an effective, medium range, semi-automatic rifle, and that’s what they got. Over 5 million were built.

Thompson submachine gun: the Thompson was built by the United Stated army in 1919. It was used in the Second World War, Korean War, Vietnam war, and several others. It was used form the years of 1938 – 1971. The Thompson was very well liked by all allied forces for its small size and high rate of fire. It used a .45 caliber ACP cartridge. It weighed 11 pounds and measured at a length of 33.5 inches. Over 10 variations of the gun were built and a total of 1.7 million were produced.

Browning Automatic Rifle: the Browning Automatic rifle, or BAR, was high powered automatic rifle. It was mainly used by advanced infantry. It was designed in 1917 and was used from 1917 – the late 1960’s. the BAR served in the First and Second World Wars, Korean and Vietnam wars, and several others. It weighed in at 16 pounds and was approx. 47 inches. It fired a .30 caliber round in a 20 round cartridge at a rate of 500 rounds per minute. There were a couple of variations, and over 100,000 were built.
Gewehr 43: The Gewehr 43 was the most common German rifle. It is a semi-automatic rifle designed by the Nazi’s. It was built in 1943 and used until 1945. The Gewehr was only use in World War Two. It weighed less than 10 pounds and was 1130 mm long. It used a 7mm round in a 10 round clip. The Gewehr could be converted into a sniper or a regular infantry rifle by adding or detaching a scope.
MP 40: the MP 40 was the German sub machine gun. It was only used in the Second World War and mainly by officers and paratroopers. It weighed only nine pounds and was 33 inches long. The MP 40 had an extendable stock for stability. It fired a 9mm round in a 32 round clip. It was not a recommended weapon because it could only be effective for close range combat. There wee several variants to this gun and over a million were built.
Lee-Enfield: the Lee-Enfield was a rifle used by the British, Canadian, and New Zealand armies. It was use in the First and Second World War, and the Korean War. It was produced from 1907 thru the present. The Lee-Enfield also had a very successful sniper version. The Lee-Enfield uses a .303 mk VII SAA ball. The Lee-Enfield weighs 9 pounds and is 45 inches long. Over 17million were built.
PPSh: The PPSh is a Soviet submachine gun. It was used in the Second World War, and the Vietnam and Korean Wars. The PPSh used a 7.62mm round in a 71 round drum magazine. It weighed only 8lbs and was 843mm long. The PPSh was nicknamed the PaPaSHot. Over 6 million were produced.
Type 99: the Type 99 was the most used Japanese rifle. I was used in the Second World War and the Korean War. It was designed and produced in 1939 and was retired in 1945. It used a 7.7mm round in a 5 round box clip. It weighed 8 pounds and was 44 inches long.
Type 100: the Type 100 was the most used Japanese sub machine gun. It was only used in World War Two. The type 100 had an 8mm round in a 30 box clip. The Type 100 was a very ineffective weapon because it had a very low powered shot and was late coming into the war. The gun weighed 10 pounds and was 35 inches long. Roughly 20,000 were produced.
