Alpha Kappa Alpha is an organization established in early 1990s led by Ethel Hedgemen Lyle. The sorority was initially formed by Black women from African- American origin and the main motive of the organization was to serve all mankind. Later on women from many countries and different descents joined the groups and the sorority had 2.5 lac members soon after the establishment. The target programs of the sorority includes imparting education, serving family of minorities, improving living conditions and health of the people who cannot afford expensive medical and giving boost to their lost talents.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Founders understood the needs of the minority back ground; hence they form a group of members that are willing to give their hand for the betterment of the people from minority back ground. Although their motto said serve to all mankind, thus their assistance were not limited to only minority people. They helped people from any races and origin. With the change in time and changing culture, the 20th Century women shaped dynamic group of members with vibrant background and culture. All joined their hands in a faith for saving mankind from sufferings and pain.
The first founder among Alpha Kappa Alpha Founders was Ethel Hedgeman Lyle belonged to Negro society. She was teacher in a normal school in Oklahoma. The second contribution was by another Negro lady Anna Easter Brown, was a Negro History advocate. She was well known among the people in the country especially for annual Negro History Week exhibits. The organization was flourished immensely and with the contribution of thousands of ladies, they helped innumerable houses and people.
Nine Howard university students created this dynamic sorority and soon later it attained all fame and gallant approaches with their efforts and visions. These women and even women after them created history of sisterhood and they introduced a feeling among people that service to mankind is service to God. All the members Alpha Kappa Alpha Founders list were graduated from Howard University and were into the teaching job. Studying various profiles of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Founders, it can be observed however they belong to different culture and backgrounds but their aim was to organize a national group that help any needy person in the world.
The first international Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha was established in Nigeria in 1950s and later on eight Chapters were establishes with the aim to try to serve to everyone in need.
