BACA: Bikers Against Child Abuse
Bikers Against Child Abuse is a non-profit organization that exists to provide aid, comfort, safety, and support for children that have been abused in any way.
BACA is a group of people dedicated to preventing child abuse. They stand to protect children and incarcerate child abusers.BACA is funded by donations from the public. BACA has different intervention levels they may need to take for different children. They are not violent unless they are protecting themselves or children. It is there intent to make a child feel safe and not be afraid. BACA supports the child in every way they can, in attempt to make them feel like the BACA members are part of the child’s very own family.
BACA is organized with a contact person to take calls from anybody. An agency determines that the child is still frightened. The representative will contact BACA or refer them to contact BACA. Then BACA decides if the case is legitimate. The family is then contacted for approval and this is when Intervention 1 occurs. Which is called the child ride. The entire BACA chapter rids to the child which is then given a vest, patches along with other BACA items, name patch for the vest, and a photograph of their new BACA family.
The child is given the name and number of the closest 2 BACA members and they become the child’s primary contact persons. Anytime the child is scared they can call on these people to go to the house and help in any way possible. They can also be used as escorts, be present during interviews and they may appear with the child in court. They are there as long as the child needs them. They also hold events, such as BBQ’S, for the BACA children. Before one can become a primary contact they must clear a background check, have ridden with the chapter for at least 1 year, and received special instructions from the Licensed Mental Health Professional. BACA members also never go to the child’s house alone nor without the permission of the parents.
BACA has 4 levels on intervention that they may need to take so the child feels and is safe. Level 1 consists of the child ride, including as many members that can attend. They ride to the child’s house where they gift the child with a vest, patches, stickers, and a picture of the BACA family. At level 2, BACA members start becoming visible at times then the family could be most vulnerable. Their presence is to help protect the children and the family. If they must go to level 3 with the child then the Chapter President or Vice will write a letter to the perpetrator stating that they are prepared to take whatever steps are necessary to become the obstacle that prevents further abuse. At level 4 BACA gets the general location of the offender and conducts a “Neighborhood Awareness Ride”. They will ride to the general location and go door to door letting people know who they are and their purpose. While attempting to keep out of contact with the offender.
