Being Thankful for What We Have

The holidays are upon us once again and with them comes others that make me thankful for what I have.

I find myself wondering why my website to help the homeless luluswritersweb has not done better. Maybe it is because people don’t know me and think it is all a ploy to pocket this money myself I am not sure, but what I do know is that it is not generating much at all. So far $40. is what has been donated and all of that I have given to either the poor or people like Brandon.

I so wish I could do more to help those in need, especially this time of the year when I am thinking about the gifts I still have left to get and how much love there is in my family. I know also that the money I gave Brandon will never be missed. What would I have done with that money if it had not gone to him? Who knows a movie, dinner, or some other thing I really didn’t need.

I find myself wishing I could have given him more. I  just wanted to turn around and bring him home with me. I didn’t want to leave him all alone out there in the cold. I knew I could not do that because  partner may have wondered why I was bringing a stranger into our home. I wish I had a house for people in the same condition as he is. I wish I could make a difference and help more than I already do.

Yes I myself have been in his shoes and I remember what it felt like not to have any place to go. I was young and had run away and didn’t know where my next meal was going to come from or where I was going to sleep at night, but unlike Brandon my hard times didn’t last 11 or more months I went home and made up with my Mom. Things turned around for me very quickly but I do not think Brandon will have it so easy.

So the next time you are feeling low and things in your life don’t seem to be going as you think they should take a look around you and see how much you have to be thankful for. I think you may be surprised at how well your life and circumstances really are.

Happy Holidays!

Happiness is not having what you want but wanting what you have. However little I might have it is more than many have.

How wonderful you are to help the young man. I have done the same in the past. It makes you feel good and truly appreciate what you have in your life.
