Do You Trust People?

Many people wonder sometimes whether they should be able to trust another human being. I wonder about it sometimes myself. The truth of the matter is that people cannot be trusted. I know that because I cannot even trust myself. I am not perfect. I make mistakes. Sometimes I have no idea what is good for me. Sometimes I have no idea what is good for others. I am always looking out for my own well being first and others come second. I am only good to people who will be beneficial to me in my life. It is only a matter of luck that people are nice to you. Most people you know will eventually betray you or disappoint you in some way. If they keep standing by you, it is only because they hope to receive the same favor in return. Trust and loyalty are overrated. Get over it. Stop hoping that people will turn into selfless saints and begin building mutually beneficial relationships. The more a person has to loose by betraying you, the more they will be careful not to do so.
