100 years ago a mass media industry like News Corp could never have existed, let alone get to this sort of size. For a start the media didn’t exist like it does now, there was no television, international transport and communication were very limited, society was relatively basic in comparison to the fast paced, consumer driven, media saturated ways of modern day society. People knew very little of what was going on in the world around them, and why would they, there was no real way for them to find out.
