Cultism in the Nigerian higher Institutions.
The high rate of cultisim in our territory institutions has become an eye sore to our society. Parents are not certain about the innocence of their wards anymore. The university has become a place for hoodlums, prostitutions, and thieves to fully practice their works with the notion of going to study.
Recently in one of our state polytechnics a professor was almost lynched by cult members during an election rally for the Head of Student Union. The said professor (name withheld) was said to have opposed the cult members decision to have one of their persons elected as head of Student Union. During the really for student union the cult members bounced on the professor and before he could defend himself, they attacked him with all sought of deadly weapons like, merchant, axe, knife etc. the rally was disrupted and the students fled for their lives living the professor at the mercy of the cultist, a student who tried to rescue the professor from the hands of the cult members was axed himself, he head his neck slight by one of the cult members axe. The professor and the student were taken to a general hospital, where the cult members later abducted the student, beheaded him and left his head at the main entrance of the polytechnic. The Professor is said to be in a critical condition in a private hospital and also on the danger list and is highly wanted by the cult members, who also demanded a certain fee from the VC if they wanted the students to come back to school and continue with their exams. As at now the polytechnic is closed until further notice.
I think it is high time the government take issue of cultism in our territory institutions very serious or else we would have a big problem in our hand in the next future.
