Sources of Conflict in Organizations

Conflict is a disagreement between two or more parties who perceive that they have incompatible concerns.

Conflict is a process in which an effort is purposely made by A to offset the errors of B by some form of blocking that will result in frustrating B in attaining his or her goals or furthering his or her interests.  A process in which one party perceives that its interest are being opposed or negatively affected by another.

Incompatible goals

Incompatible goals occurs when one employee’s or department’s personal or work goals seem to interfere with another person’s department goals.

Differentiation

Differentiation occurs when background and experience were so difference that they endlessly confused.  Different values and belief due to unique backgrounds, experience,training,national culture and expectation.

Communication problems

Communicatin problems as a result of the lack of opportunity, ablity or motivaiton to communicate effectively.

Ambiguous Rules

Uncertainty increase the risk that one party intends to interfere with the ohers party’s goals.  it also encourages political tactics and allow employees enter a free-for-all battle to win decisions in their favor.

Scare Resources

Scare resources is generate conflict because scarcity motivated people to compete with others who also need tose resources to achieve their objectives.
