Why Do You Want to Participate in The Seliger Forum? What Knowledge and Expertise Would You Like to Acquire Participating in This Forum
An Essay for SELIGER.
Ever since I was a little boy, I have always believed in helping others, promoting human welfare and advocating social reform. I had the opportunity to realise this dream very early on, I was selected by the UK Department for International Development to volunteer in West Africa. As a team member, I was involved in a 10-week project to build a primary school and teach Maths, Science and English in local schools. In our spare time, I had the initiative of building a children’s playground. I demonstrated diplomatic skills when liaising with the region’s chief to ensure that planning permission was granted, and I used my creative skills to fundraise through various community activities. I want to work hard for a better world, to be a world leader and I believe that the Seliger Forum can help me towards this path.
As an event that brings the world’s leading politicians and academics, I believe that I will develop my understanding of world politics and how this can be effectively used for humanitarian efforts. Being in the same arena as other intelligent and ambitious young people, I will have the opportunity to share my ideas and collaborate with other leaders of tomorrow. I believe that one man can only make 20 pens a day but a hundred men can make a million pens that same day; like minded people working together can reach their goals more successfully.
As an inquisitive person I know that I will immerse myself in Russian culture and its politics; I love learning about different ways of life. I believe that one needs to understand a different perspective in order to understand the global village, and that is why flying to the Seliger Forum will be my platform to make a difference on a global scale.
