Another Alternative Explanation for Ancient Mythic Origins
In an earlier article, I explored the question of the possibility that ancient extraterrestrial visitors could have brought about the basis of mythic gods thousands of years ago. In this paper we will delve into a completely terrestrial alternative to this mythic origin theory.
Could Some Have Survived Unscathed?
If this is the case, there comes to mind an interesting possibility that lingers in the back of the mind; what if somebody somewhere on the Earth retained the technology of that past pinnacle of human development? What if an isolated culture survived this cataclysm relatively unscathed or at the very least only slightly bruised? Having not fallen into this dark age with the rest of the world, they could have even further developed their technology, without the relative disruption of this “fall”.
Advanced Humans Playing God?
Once again, as in my previous article about ancient visitors from the stars, Did Extra-terrestrials Form a Basis of Ancient god Myths? a significant quote from Arthur C. Clarke’s Third Law from Profiles of the Future could shed some light on this question. He said, “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” Now, rather than aliens introducing us to the concept of gods by being mistaken for them, let us examine the idea that advanced humans could have played the same role with our ancient “fallen” ancestors, thousands of years ago. In the same way as interfering aliens, Clarke’s third law no doubt applies to this scenario, as well. If these theoretical “un-fallen” humans could have held onto their advanced technological edge, it would have given them a major advantage, while everybody else clawed for their very survival.
Olympian Status
How would the masters of such ancient technology be perceived by those of say the third or forth generation after this fall? The answer is simple; they would have been seen as “gods”. As Clarke said their technology would be indistinguishable from magic. They would not have to be aliens to become the basis of ancient magical myths. Actually being humans, this would more clearly explain the ancients’ penchant for giving their gods anthropomorphic, “human” like form. It actually stands as a better argument for this tendency to anthropomorphize God, than does the alien interference theory, which depends on those aliens having a humanoid form. As stated before with the alien alternative theory, if the ancients came to see the “gods” as beings whose body form had the same basic shape as any other human, then this could be when the anthropomorphic “god” model came into ancient mythology. This misunderstanding could have continued for many centuries, setting these technologically advanced humans apart from the rest of humanity; putting them up on an “Olympian” pedestal, quite literally. With such an elevated status, they could have continued to advance far beyond the rest of humanity, eventually choosing to disappear into the secret places such as subterranean chambers of the deep inner Earth. These technologically advanced people would have remained misunderstood even until today. Perhaps they still are misunderstood, as we speak.
More Questions Than Answers
Consider this, what technological level could the descendants of these “un-fallen” ancients have now reached, if they were able to remain “shielded” from the rest of humanity and continued their progress unabated for all these thousands of years? Many UFO eye witnesses are convinced that what they’ve seen are of an extra-terrestrial origin. But perhaps the source is much more terrestrial in its nature. Could this unexplainable aerial phenomena be the current technology of these advanced pre-fall descendants? Is it possible they’re still operating on a considerably far progressed level of technology, when compared to any other culture on the Earth? Have they managed to keep themselves mostly hidden from the mainstream for thousands of years, with only these occasional moments when people catch glimpses of them? As we find in all this type of speculation, we’re left with more questions than answers. As long as that remains the case, we must continue our search for explanations of the extraordinary.

We’re living in the midst of a collapsing society ourselves. It would be nice if some small segment of society survives to continue our culture and technology. It would be even nicer if these people included ME in their superior society.
Seriously, I’m available. Take me with you!

B. Nelson,
There’s actually no reason to think that it couldn’t be both. It would be a rare thing that has only one explanation. Most complex systems have multiple roots.
