Author John Keel’s Unique Look at UFO’s

John A. Keel made a huge impact on the UFO field as he studied, traveled, and theorized about a subject few could penetrate. His views offer amazing insights into an enigma.

However, not all of his explanations about UFO’s were limited to the paranormal realm. John explored the electromagnetic effect observed whenever many of these crafts made their presence known. Automobiles, telephones, and even TV sets were known to have failed or been distorted by an electromagnetic field whenever UFO’s were present. Keel was one of the first to speculate that UFO’s used a powerful electromagnetic field as propulsion sighting that early attempts at investigation by the CIA and other US intelligence agencies were already speculating about an electromagnetic form of locomotion utilized by UFO’s by the early 1950’s. Keel noted that some people reporting engine failure during a nocturnal UFO sighting often experienced these incidents along rural routes in the vicinity of power lines.

This led Keel to another theory that these mystery flying disks could draw power from electrical lines. He even attributed the cause of massive blackouts and power failures to UFO activity. Not only this, but Keel attributed these incidents to taking place along ley lines or ancient gridlines that defined earth energy patterns such as low level ground voltage.

John Keel dealt with the heartbreaking events of the December 15, 1967 collapse of the Silver Bridge over the Ohio River in Point Pleasant West Virginia. In the weeks and days preceding this catastrophe, reports of a winged entity with red glowing eyes that was later described as the “Mothman” had been terrifying residents. Townspeople reported having strange dreams of Christmas packages floating in the darkened and cold waters of the Ohio River prior to the tragedy. John Keel was there investigating the events around the disaster of the bridge collapse as well as the strange paranormal incidents, not to mention the Mothman itself.

John Keel drew upon the strange findings of those who preceded him in the investigation of odd events in the past such as Emmanuel Swedenborg, a scientist, philosopher, and Christian mysticism, who investigated the realm of angels and demons.

Keel referred to the detailed and exhaustive research of Charles Fort, who had done much study into paranormal events. He reported such events as raining frogs and the airborne cigar shaped crafts seen in the days of President Lincoln that predated the “Great Airship Mystery” of 1897 that captivated the entire US at the time with reports from coast to coast.

A cautionary message is repeated time and again by John Keel, who in his book, “The Eighth Tower” had lamented the deaths of many he had corresponded with during his hunt for truth in the maze of UFO sightings and other unexplained phenomena that had enticed him. Keel’s fascination could be traced back to his sighting of a UFO over one of the pyramids in Egypt in 1953 while he was on journalistic assignment.

John A. Keel has penned such books as “UFO’s Operation Trojan Horse”, “Strange Creatures From Time And Space”, Mothman Prophecies”, “Judo”, and “The Eighth Tower”. He made personal appearances and gave talks until his death on July 3, 2009. He left a legacy of compelling, if not forbidden knowledge in his wake.
