Bermuda Triangle Mystery

by Sonora in Paranormal, June 5, 2009

It faces many controversies today; accused of the “death”of many including passing planes and ships. It is one of those “mysterious disappearing” stories that stumble even the best of us. It even claims some of the most shocking theories out there: ruthless extraterrestrials, stones from Atlantis, and evil beings who defy gravity. It is the Bermuda Triangle.

The Bermuda Triangle is a vast area located in the Atlantic Ocean roughly between Miami, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico. Legend claims that many vessels and air crafts have disappeared over the Devils Triangle, making out the area to be a fairly large area: about 500,000 square miles to three times larger then that. The Bermuda Triangle mystery dates back nearly to the time of Columbus. A rough estimate of about no more then 1,000 incidents occurred in the past 500 years, making it one of the most perplexing mysteries of our time. Alone, nearly 50 ships and 20 planes have gone down according to U.S. Coast Guard officials. Skeptics argue that “explosive cargoes, bad luck, magnetic fields, and thunderstorms” are not the cause of the legend.  They claim that there is no scientific evidence to support the air of mystery about the Bermuda Triangle and that nothing needs explaining. They claim that given the size, location, and amount of traffic it receives, the Bermuda Triangle receives false names and the disappearances are not surprising. The current debate is how the Bermuda Triangle ever became the mystery it is today. History tells us that in 1945, five Navy places [flight 19] vanished on their training missions after a compass fail. They were, though, not equipped with working navigational instruments. A theory as to why they may have disappeared though was that the lead pilot Lt. Charles Taylor’s compass had been the first one to have failed. Another possibility was they tragically ran out of fuel and they were a disoriented group. Only gravity was there to take down the group, not a mysterious force as to what they claim. Another interesting disappearance involves that of Amelia Earhart. People claim that she fell victim to the Bermuda Triangle when in fact she vanished in the Pacific, far from the Atlantic. Even though the Bermuda Triangle is one of those “tales” that chill the bone, it is a place where people speculate about what is happening in the Atlantic.
