Bigfoot: Is He Still at Large?

The history and sightings of Sasquatch has been the topic of many conversations.

This is an alleged ape-like creature reported to be seen by many, then detailed stories told by numerous people ensued. Scientists claim Bigfoot is a mixture of folklore, hoxes or misidentification rather than a real existing man, beast combination animal.

Sightings have mainly been in the Northwest region of North America mainly in Montana, Oregon, and California, but some in Canada as well.  Each time an individual stated they saw this phenomenon, much research dives into proving or disproving Bigfoot’s existence.

Descriptions  of Bigfoot have  reported this enormous 6 feet 10 inch tall creature in almost unison detail. The body weight is in excess of 500 pounds, covered in dark brown or dark reddish hair having large eyes. The obvious gorilla like characteristics seemed to be the head along with the hair covered body. Huge foot prints measuring 24 inches long and 8 inches wide are the reason for the name. The scientific community initiates a bear or some other animal making these foot prints rather than support the “Bigfoot” existence.

The Reverend Elkanah Walker, a missionary, reported in the mid 1840’s, that there were giants among the Native Americans living in Spokane, Washington.

J.W. Burns in the 1920’s did a series of articles in a Canadian newspaper reflecting and describing a hypothetical creature giving Sasquatch his name. These local legendary pieces brought popularity of Bigfoot to the United States as well.

Fred Beck along with four other miners in 1924 claimed to have been attacked with rocks being thrown at their cabin in Ape Canyon. Beck’s book depicting the event with BigFoot was writen in 1967. The rumors were many which included some pranksters throwing rocks at the cabin and planting a fake footprint also. Beck admitted having premonitions and visions all of his life.

In 1941 Jeanie Chapman and her children claimed to have escaped their home when a Sasquatch approached their house in Ruby Creek British Columbia, Canada. Bigfoot was described as 7 and 1/2 feet tall.

Eric Shipton, in 1951,  photographed a footprint  that brought about some notoriety to a Yeti footprint. Later that year, large footprints were discovered in Del Norte County, California by Gerald Crew. Bob Titmus joined his friend, Gerald by casting the prints in plaster that were found on the Bluff Creek area in California. The Humboldt Times released the story with pictures of Crew holding the casted footprint very precisely written by Genzoli. This story of Bigfoot gained national attention when Associated Press published the intricate statements of interest to the general public. When Ray Wallace, a local California logger died, Ray’s family admitted the creation of ”the footprints” to him. The wife of the editor of the Humboldt Standard newspaper which joined Humboldt Times in later times, admitted her husband was in on the hoax with Wallace.

Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin made a film with Sasquatch at Bluff Creek California seemingly to be the best evidence of Bigfoot’s real existance. A friend of Patterson’s, many years after the making of that film,  came forward claiming Patterson wore an ape costume for the film production.

Cryptozoologists Loren Coleman and Diane Stocking have reported that 70 to 80 percent of the sightings of Bigfoot are not real. You might be interested to inquire further  http://www.bfro.net or to report a sighting. Another website to contact is:  http://www.examiner.com

As recent as March, April and May 2009,and in February 2009 sightenings of Bigfoot have been reported  by various people in assorted parts of the country.

Very interesting. True or not, it has become part of history that such speculation about the Bigfoot remained to be fully verified.

Oh, my hubby would love this one! I’m the skeptic and I’m the one who sees ghost! Still not sure! People often see what they want to, what is ‘real’ is just a matter of interpretation.
    Thanks,
    Clay
