Could Aliens Really Exist?

I’ve personally always kept an open mind to the theory of us finding an alien life form beyond our solar system. I mean, after all, science is growing in ideas and technology every day.

So you’d think we’re guaranteed to make contact one day, right?

However quickly science is growing, the space beyond us and the possible life forms out their remains. Some scientists have already sent messages into outer space, in the hope of us one day finding that some form of life has responded. The only problem is, even when travelling at the speed of light, they can take hundreds of years to pass into the unknown of our universe. And then even longer waiting for a message to be received back.

Arecibo message

This could possibly be one of the most famous attempts to make contact with outer life, and an example of how science has been developing rapidly.

The Arecibo message was sent into space in the year 1974, November 16. It was directly aimed at the star cluster M13 which is approximately 25,000 light years away from Earth.

What is more intriguing is the content of the message they sent up. Dr Frank Drake wrote  the message, named the ‘Drake equation’. The Drake Equation was also made with the help of Carl Sagan.

The idea, however, was slightly flawed. It would take 25,000 years to reach it’s target, and another 25,000 for any response to be identified. In fact, by the time the message would reach M13, the star cluster won’t be as it was when the message was sent.

Although flawed, the intricate detail of the message was astonishing, and an example of how science is bringing us ever closer to finding alien life.
