Evil Spirits in India

Evil Spirits are recognized in Hindu religion, but there are startling facts that point that these do exist.

 Evil spirits are recognized as part and parcel of religious thought. In India there are many types of spirits.Some of the common types that exist in all parts of India are listed below. These spirits are not just a figment of ones imagination and there are many people who have had strange encounters with them.

The Chaleda- This is a spirit that is denied entry to the spirit world and is destined to roam the earth till its day of salvation.The spirit has the ability to change and appear in many forms.It tries to frighten the victim and then kill him. Many villagers particularly in the Northern part of India have had encounters with the Chaleda.

The Chudyial or Women Evil Spirit- This is type of spirit that is a woman.She may take the shape of a damsel or young girl and accost the victim. There are cases of Chudyial marrying young men and then killing them. These are those spirits who have committed  some heinous crime like husband murder and child abduction and murder. The  Chudyial is common all over India and there are umpteen instances of encounters with them.

The Bhoot- This is the most common form of evil spirit and refers to a spirit that takes the place of a dead man in the world. The dead mans spirit for some reason is again unable to enter the spirit world and is condemned to roam the world till its days of salvation.Such spirits may not harm a human, but if antagonized, it can wreak vengeance.

There are many other types of evil spirits. There is also the Yamdoot, the messanger of Death among others.Hinduism also has mantra’s that if recited can bring such spirits in your power.But it is a dangerous game and frought with risk. One has to be careful not to antagonize the spirit world.
