Apophyllite is a naturally occurring mineral that is green, white, or colorless and is transparent. It crystallizes in natural pyramidal structures, as granular masses, and as artificial-cubic crystals. It also grows in small clusters upon other minerals.
This gemstone largely occurs in Pune, India but has also been found in Britain, Japan, Brazil, Nova Scotia and Oregon in the United States. Specimens are often found in ancient lava and basalt flows where they grow in openings that were formed by air pockets when the rock was molten.
