History of Alien Abductions

This article is about the history of alien abduction claims.

There were stories of alien abductions before the phenomenon was popularized by the famous Barney and Betty Hill incident of 1961.  The Hill case generated widespread publicity which climaxed in a made-for-television movie.  Since then, UFO researchers have studied the phenomenon backwards and forwards.

In the late 1800s, there was at least one case of attempted abduction in conjunction with the mystery airships.  In 1921, a contactee claimed that two tall men who wore helmets and “diving suits” kidnapped him when he was a boy.  U.S. writer Charles Fort conjectured that aliens might have snatched humans in his 1923 book, New Lands.  In 1951, Fred Reagan claimed that an unidentified flying object struck his small plane while he was piloting it.

Two U.S.  Army soldiers saw two bright red lights near their base in 1958.  They suddenly found themselves in a new location without any memory of how they got there.

However, the Barney and Betty Hill case may be the most famous case of alleged alien abduction in history.  This was the first major encounter with the beings that would become known as Greys.  In addition, the star Zeta Reticuli was later suspected as where the Greys came from.

A major increase in mainstream attention to alien abductions came in the 1980s.  This was when famous books by UFO researchers like Budd Hopkins, Whitley Streiber, David M. Jacobs and John Mack came out.  Some interesting new theories emerged.  For example, Hopkins and Jacobs argued that extraterrestrials were trying to create human-alien hybrids.  However, the alien motive for this is not known.  John Mack was more guarded in his investigations and interpretations of the abduction occurrences than earlier researchers.  Mack reasoned that the phenomenon is the start of a paradigm shift in human consciousness.

British writer David Icke proposed two hypotheses about alien abductions:  the kidnappings are linked with military genetic experiments.  These experiments are conducted by aliens and terrestrial armed forces and are therefore part of a wider conspiracy.  Icke believed that most organized religions are Illuminati creations designed to divide and conquer the human race.

The Illuminati is an alleged conspiratorial order which acts as a shadowy power that secretly rules the world. In 1999, Icke suggested that reptilian beings from the constellation Draco created the Earth as a zoo prison.

CONCLUSION

To me, the Betty and Barney Hill case is the best documented alien abduction incident in history.  I believe it is possible that extraterrestrials are creating human-alien hybrids.  However, David Icke’s theory about the involvement of the Illuminati just does not hold water.  It is too far out.  I do not think the Illuminati still exists but they do make for fun entertainment.
