Japan Earthquake and The Earthquake Preminition: Coincidence?

Did you ever wonder if your dreams are telling you something? This is my firsthand experience.

I mentioned before in my previous articles, that I am a very scientific and analytical person, yet I have always been fascinated by the paranormal, dreams, and “the other side.”

I just recently started reading one of the books from the extensive Time Life collection (I highly recommend these books if you like a good read). The book is from a series called “ Mysteries of the Unknown.” In short, the series covers the paranormal, along with many other unexplained events, which prompted me to write this story.

As you may know, throughout history, many famous people, good and evil, have used premonitions, oracles, fortune tellers, and the like, to make decisions on just about everything. Kings of ancient times would actually consult oracles to make decisions on major events like whether to wage war! Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill were among the many figures in history who had a “feel” for things which would normally be dismissed by some as just a coincidence. On another note, (I didn’t know this until recently reading it), Samuel Clemens- aka Mark Twain, had a dream about his brother’s death. Even the book of Revelation in the Bible comes from a fantastic dream.

With all of the above being said, now I don’t think it so strange that SOME dreams may be trying to tell us something. It may be good or bad. For instance, the saxophone was invented based upon a dream. On a humorous note, the cartoonist Gary Larson had a drawing which read “Dreaming is your brain saying: Testing one two.” Is this really the case?

Now that I have rambled on a bit, here is MY firsthand account of a vivid dream

I was living in Anchorage, Alaska in 1994, and until that time I had lived in Florida for most of my life, so I never experienced things like snow, sub-zero temperatures, mountains, and certainly not, earthquakes. Alaska is very geologically active, and if you don’t already know, the most intense earthquake in North America occurred there in 1964, on Good Friday. I was fortunate enough to get to speak to a few people who were there when it happened. (What stories).

I was only in Alaska for about two weeks when I got to experience a 3.8 earthquake. At first I thought it was my guitar player clowning around with me, but reality set in quickly when I found out he was not the one shaking my bed, and the noise in the kitchen was dishes breaking as they were being shaken to the floor. This was a startling event to say the least, and at first the whole thing only lasted about 15 to 20 seconds. However, the “aftershocks” continued throughout the day, almost on the hour. If you ever experience an earthquake, you will never forget the rumbling sound, accompanied by the shaking. By the way a 3.8 earthquake is nothing compared to the one that struck Alaska in 1964. There are conflicting opinions on the intensity, some say it was a 9.2, which is pretty huge. (every number is 10 times greater in intensity; a 4 is ten times greater than a 3, and so on).

i believe that your dream was a reflection of what would be, i don’t think it was a coincidence,
I have also had similar dreams, i wish they would happen more often.

Dreams can be ‘premonitions’ but it is learning to tell which ones are and developing those senses. There are many ‘development’ classes available if you wanted to learn more but we all have choices. Interesting article, I enjoyed your account.

Precognitive dreams are usually right on. Involuntary precognition is the same thing; although usually the person justs gets a feeling before something occurs.

I’ve learned to pay attention when this happens because usually these instances of “knowing” are trying to tell or warn us about something.

At some point in the night of May 17th I began a very long dream. It was filled with people in my life, very new people and very old friends. The dream is blurry and a lot of events took place, but one memory is vivid. There was an earthquake, a few seconds of shaking and one small aftershock. The next evening my area experienced a 4.7 magnitude earthquake. It had the same length and aftershock as my dream. I was so shocked when it happened I didn’t react to the earthquake, I reacted to the dream. As the earthquake was occuring I was almost screaming about the dream I had. I’ve had dreams that relate to the future but I have never experienced such a clear dream to real life experience. I would really like to learn more about this if anyone can help.

Well I am a skeptic about most phenomena and I have had a number of dreams about experiencing an earthquake but on Wednesday morning January 13 2010 possibly somewhere between 7 – 9 am Melbourne time I had a dream so vivid I wanted to check the Recent World Earthquake Activity site in my favorites but failed to to so. My dream started with myself and a friend sitting in an old bedroom of mine when the room started to shake slightly then abruptly shifting violently from side to side about once every 2 seconds, the next frame I was telling somebody about how the room was on an angle and the light fitting was still hanging vertical. Later that morning I learned about the quake in Haiti. I put this down to coincidence but just thought I should share this.

oh my goodness, i had the same thing only it wasnt a dream, i was walkind to my friends house and i had this strange feeling, images were in my head, i saw the street lights shaking, and when i crossed the street there was chalk marks like a richter scale, and then i saw a crack in the cement. i ran to my friends house to tell him what i saw and he was walking a friend home. he was trying to get rid of him so he told me to hide, i sat down in the grass, anxious, and then it really did happen! the fence near me was jingling and the buildings offbase were swaying. he didnt even feel it! he is from california and ignores them but it was my first one and it was like it had happened already right before! i am so glad i am not the only person this happens to. also in kansas when i lived there i would have dreams the night before about tornadoes then they would happen!
