The Loch Ness Monster
Legend of the Deep
The Loch Ness Monster is supposedly a large water beast that lives in the frigid waters of Scotland’s Loch Ness. There are different ideas on what the Loch Ness Monster really is. These creatures are: an evolved Plesiosaur, a long necked seal, a long necked newt, or a giant eel. The Loch Ness Monster was first seen in 1933. From that point on, many sightings have occurred. Many people have taken pictures of sightings, but most have been hoaxes. Recently, the number of sightings has decreased to about 3 a year. There is no physical evidence of the Loch Ness Monster, so for now, it will remain a legend.
- I found the legend on the internet, but I first heard about the legend from my parents when I was much younger.
- The legend first originated in the early 1900’s from people working nearby the Loch Ness. However, there is a story that in 565, St. Columba saved a man from a great monster in Loch Ness.
- Since the legend is so famous, I’m sure that many millions of people have heard about it.
- I think the legend should stay around because it is fun to ponder on.
- I don’t believe that there is a monstrous sea beast in the Loch Ness but I do think it may be a water animal like a whale.
- A myth is like imaginary or fictitious and a legend is a non-historical or unverifiable story handed down by tradition from earlier times.
