Monsters From The Deep

a look at the Cadborosaurus and two other sea monsters.

Tim Mock and his family were sailing off the coast of British Columbia when they saw “Caddy”.  Caddy, or Cadborosaurus, is the seafaring cousin of the Loch Ness Monster.  It is said to be 5 to 15 meters in length and shaped like a serpent.  Caddy’s head is said to look like that of a camel, giraffe, horse or a sheep.  Estimates of the length of its neck range from one to four meters and this is what the Mock family claimed to have seen twice in July, 1999.

The first time Tim Mock saw Caddy, he thought it was a log but he changed his mind when it seemed to break into three pieces.  All that was left was a small whirlpool in the water.  The Mocks saw Caddy again when they dropped anchor near Honfray Channel near Desolation Sound.

People have been seeing large snake-like creatures in the waters off Vancouver Island, BC, since 1933.  That year the headlines screamed “Yachtsmen Tell of Huge Serpent Off Victoria”, and was soon named the Cadborosaurus.  Nicknamed  Caddy, it became British Columbia’s Loch Ness monster.  In 1937, a specimen 3.2 meters long was found in the stomach of a sperm whale.

The creature had an elongated body with a mid dorsal ridge running along the back with a head similar to that of a camel.  The Manhouset Native Canadian people told stories of a creature that resembled Caddy and this provides the most ancient evidence of this monster.

There are many other sea monsters.  One was sighted by biologists Michael J. Nicoll and E.G.B. Meade-Waldo in 1905.  They observed a “sea monster” which has never been explained, classified or caught, off the coast of Brazil.  Nicoll and Mead-Waldo observed a huge dorsal fin which looked like no fish they had ever seen before.  The part of the fin they could see was about two feet high, six feet long and rectangular in shape.

Meade-Waldo watched the creature through his binoculars and saw a head on a long neck rise from the water.  The head and neck were about as thick as a small man’s body.

In 1934, rumors were circulating about the “San Clemente Monster”.  People were saying there was a giant monster in the Clemente Channel.  One day, two men were fishing for tuna when they saw something rise out of the water.  It sank slowly back into the depths after staying up for about a minute.  When they went ashore the two men kept their mouths shut.  They did not want people to think they were crazy.  Instead, they had two stiff drinks at the nearest bar.

Others who saw the creature agreed it was gigantic; had huge eyes; and was like nothing anyone had ever seen before.
