Move Objects with The Power of Light
It’s been known by scientists for a long time that if an object is blasted with light, it can move. Now they’re advancing this technology.
Scientists have developed something called “Lightfoils” based off the concept of airfoils. Airfoils generate lift as an engine pushes a plane forward, it’s wings force it to rise. Lightfoils use this same concept of “lift” which is evident when a flow in one direction moves an object perpendicularly.
The Lightfoils aren’t powerful enough to let an airplane fly from NJ to LA, but they can be used to power micro machines and enable better steering on solar sails.
Scientists developed tiny rods shaped like airplane wings. When these little wings were placed in water and shot with 130 milliwatts of light, they began to gain height, although the little rods began moving to the side, perpendicular to the direction of the light.
Perhaps they’ll make it so we are shrunk, and then transported by these Lightfoils to different places. Or maybe if extreme amounts of light were concentrated, it could be able to destroy objects and it’s purpose would be in the military.
This technology can go both ways, yet I just want to be able to make something explode from a light laser.
