Paranormal Experiences
My personal paranormal experiences.
He retired in 1997 and we moved back to our home.
We never had any paranormal activity until 1998. Our children were teenagers.
First, we saw a young boy with dark brown walking in our backyard from the kitchen window. When we looked again or ran out to check, he was gone. There was no way he could have disappeared so fast. My husband, both our children and myself, saw this. Then we began to see him in the house. We would be watching TV in our family room and see him looking around the corner. But it seemed he could never come into that room. Note: the family room had been added on after the original house was built. One night after turning off the TV, my husband and I saw his reflection in the screen.
Christmas, 1999, I received a table-top musical water fountain. I happily set it up in our living room. Soon it began to play all the time, even late at night. I often heard the giggle of a small girl around the fountain. One evening while putting away laundry in our bedroom, I saw our daughter run laughing into her bedroom with our dog, Kole, fast on her heels. I called to ask her what was so funny. No answer. I saw Kole come out of the room but not my daughter. I checked and her room was empty. I found her sitting at the kitchen table talking with her dad. She had not run into her room.
Coming home from work one night, I pulled into the drive-way and saw my husband get up from the loveseat and walk into the kitchen. When I opened the front door, I expected him to greet me. No husband. He then came walking down the hall having just gotten out of the shower. He had not been sitting on the loveseat. Another night, I came home from work to an empty house. When I opened the front door for a split second I saw a tall man dressed in black pants and a white shirt standing in my living room petting my dogs. Then in a blink of an eye he was gone and my dogs came to greet me.
In 2005, now having an empty nest, we started a total remodel of our home. I was alone working in the first room, my new office. We had pulled up the carpet and I was painting before we laid tile. I was standing on a ladder when I loudly heard a male voice ask me what I was doing. I was so startled; I almost fell off the ladder.
Once my heart rate slowed down, I climbed down and addressed the room. I explained that we were remodeling the house to make it more beautiful for all of us. I told the voice how much they had scared me and to please not do it again. I never heard another voice while I worked.
Common experiences
It would take a book to tell all the experiences we, other family members and visitors have had in our house. So, in conclusion I will give you a list of common events we experience.
1. Missing items: My husband lost his name badge for work. It was in the small basket with his wallet, change, etc and was gone. We searched the house for over a week. Then it was just back in place. This has happen over the years with several small items.
2. Lamps turning on: Our bedroom lamp would turn off and on by itself. You could even hear and see the switch clicking. This stopped once we remodeled our bedroom and I bought a new lamp.
3. The closet door: The door to our walk-in closet is often found open when we return home. It has a hanging lamp inside and this will also be turned on. Once when our daughter watched our house so we could take a vacation, she said the door and light were open and on everyday when she came home. She finally stopped closing it and shut our bedroom door until we returned.
4. TV’s: Our TV’s in our family room and master bedroom will turn by themselves and sometimes change the channel. Many times we return home to find at least one of these TV’s playing.
By, definition the paranormal does not conform to the conventional expectations of the natural. Objectively, paranormal phenomena or beliefs are difficult to study. Despite this challenge, studies on the paranormal are conducted by researchers from various disciplines.

I also have an interest in the paranormal and find this article fascinating. It would appear that some spirits find it difficult to move on, also some are more sensitive to such things than others. Thanks for a great read and please share some others.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve studied paranormal phenomena for some time. It’s uncanny but they always happen to a certain kind of people.
Wait! I’m not suggesting anything else than that these people are somehow more sensitive (often blissfully unaware themselves) to vibrations or ‘realities’ of a different sort and are ready to acknowledge that that the known ‘fabric’ of reality doesn’t explain everything.

Pam,
I love reading about this kind of stuff. I hope you write another article like this real soon. The first apartment I lived in was haunted. One night I was laying in bed, and I hadn’t gone to sleep yet, when this elderly lady dressed in white floated past the two bedroom doors from the kitchen heading toward the living room. I quickly put on my pants and went out to the hall way just in time to see her go through the east wall of my apartment, which was a upstairs apartment! It didn’t take me long to move out. My dad didn’t believe me, so he and my uncle, my moms brother spent the night with me, and they saw the same think I saw. The next morning my dad and uncle had my stuff packed by the time I got out of bed. I moved back in with my parents. A great article Pam! As I say, Write another one quick! I love reading about this stuff! Keep up the great writing!

As a child, I usually had them but didn’t really mind until the grown-ups made a fuss about them. That’s when I began to get scared. This is an interesting article.

Thanks for your openness and honesty about dimensions of life which undoubtedly exist in the real experience of many, many people. You and some of your readers might be interested to read the memoir Wisps from the dazzling darkness – a Sceptic’s take on Paranormal Experience which I am currently serialising on my website. This is an account of my many paranormal experiences and gradual coming to terms as a rationalist and a sceptic (in the open-minded sense!) with the reality of those occurrences. We need a more open debate and discussion about those matters. Best wishes Anne W writing on website Writing from the Twelfth House.

I felt the hairs on my arm stand up while I was reading this, while I’ve not had any paranormal experiences I do believe in life after death. Interesting piece, how you coped with some of those experiences I do not know.

Very scary because I read it at night with the lights off. How do you do it. I mean are you not scared of the creepy factor of these happenings? I would run out of the house thru the wall like a cartoon at the first voice/paranormal phenomenon.
Have you not been scared they would want to kill you? I mean besides that just seeing a see-thru figure vanish b4 me would creep me enough that I would walk out and not come back for my stuff.
In what state do you live please? Did all these people die in your house? Is it damned? Why would you want to live there with all that freaky stuff going on?

Wow! Great article. I’ve once seen my grandpa walking nearby and turning his head slowly. But then he disappeared. And I once felt, as I was lying in bed, that a girl with long black hair was staring at me, without a peep.

Teh boy part was the coolest, i experienced that too once, when i was six, i was going to sleep really late, I watched tv at night, when i stood up, my eyes were sleepy so i could not see well i remember going into my bedroom and seeing a dead person on the floor, i ran into the living room trying to not make any noise since my parents were sleeping, to make sure I went in that room again and seen nothing again – after that i saw a lot of ghost dreams, like i seen a monster taking me from my rroom and leading somewhere, i tried to scream but my voice was gone, and my parents were sleeping…..i still get the chills off that dream…

Brilliant article, I believe every word you say. My house is 100% haunted it didn’t bother me too much but as I said in my article update, he’s taken to throwing my walking sticks so I can’t quite reach them which is pretty mean really. I looked at your picture too there is something there for sure. Take care. LB

My grandfather died about 10 yrs ago, My parents would go to camp on the weekend & I would stay home alone. One specific morning I was sleeping in my parents bed. My mom had a wicker chair in the corner of her room, I woke up to my grandfather sitting in the chair with a white tee-shirt. (He always wore a white tee-shirt). He said, “Hi Tam” (thats what he always called me) I was 17 @ the time & I had a 1 year old sister. He said, ” When you’re mom gets home, make sure April (my baby sister) doesn’t eat her crayons.” I was scared to death. My mom & dad r divorced, so I called my dad to pick me up I was so scared, when my mom & stepdad came home from camp, They bought April a new coloring book & crayons. I never saw him again & the morning I did, he was in a ghost form, I could see him, but I could tell he was a ghost because I could see through him. This is the truth, I’ve never had any other experiences, but I KNOW I saw my grandfather shortly after his death.

I found this very interesting. When I read the part about the hospital it made remember something that happened to one of my ex-girlfriends. She worked in a nursing home and when one of the residents died she was convinced that the ghost had followed her home. I must admit that her home did feel very strange at that point. The scary thing was that items inside her home were moved. For example she returned home one day and found a chair from the kitchen was inside her bedroom. Not long after this her young daughter was terrified when she opened her bedroom door and discovered that all of her posters had been pulled off the wall and rolled up.

My cousins house is very haunted
I honestly think they should start writing a book about it because it’s honestly different from anything I have ever heard. It is very protective of the home and my cousins, so much so that my cousin has developed a friendship with the spirit ( my cousin is 11) I have heard that they usually stop talking to children after a few years but this one has continued. My cousin says he just has normal conversations with the spirit but when he would ask her personal questions she would stop talking. After a while though she was comfortable enough to talk. Her name was Mary and was 16. Every one in the family has had experiences with the spirit. She doesn’t like guests though so things usually pick up when my family comes to visit. This is getting too long but I will say that she turned on all of the circuit breakers when me and my father were re wiring the house and almost electrocuted my father

Does anyone know of any websites dedicated to exploring why kids are more open to paranormal experiences? I know I had several as a kid – but pressure from adults made me shut out these experiences. I’d like to know how others, now as adults, have opened up to their abilities without fear. thanks!

A year ago, it was at 3:28 am Wensday. well Thrusday techally. I heard a noise so i got up and walk to the bathroom. I heard a women screamed “help me help me! i’ve been stab!” she kept screaming and screaming. I ignore it and went back to sleep. I woke up and its Thursday you know. and its been bugging me. so after school i did some research. it turns out that like 125 ft away from my house there is a country club. in 2006 on the same day also on thursday. a women was murdered there by a man. she was found stab multiply times.
This happen again during the summer. i was at a church retreat. I was in the dorm all happy and my friends left me there alone. i saw a collage girl dress old fashion. she was crying. i told my friends and they wouldnt believe me. i found it weird how they was a police station in the collage we were staying in. i search up some stuff online. apparently in 1969 or something. In that very collage there were a Co-ed murdered. it started with a girl. They had a picture of that girl. and guess what? it was the same girl. she was rape and then cut into peiece and store inside trash bin.
