Petroleum-Making Bugs That Eat Waste?

Bugs that eat our filthy waste, and excrete valuable petroleum that we use for daily life? Could this be the dawn of a new world where our worries of depleting all fossil fuels would vanish?

“Ten years ago I could never have imagined I’d be doing this, ” once said Greg Pal,  a former software executive.  “I mean, this is essentially agriculture, right? But the people I talk to – especially the ones coming out of business school – this is the one hot area everyone wants to get into.”

Greg refers to these tiny little ( genetically altered ) bugs that eat common agricultural waste like wheat straw, wood chips, and more. The next thing they do is truly unique and amazing, they excrete crude oil petroluem  ( not refined petroleum). These creatures are real, this isn’t a mistaken thing or science fiction type deal.

These amazing creatures could allow us to do these things in the near future:

Lower gas prices

With these bugs put to work, in a short time we will have enough oil to be fuel all the world and still be able to replenish the fuel used from it daily, leaving so much fuel that gas prices can be dropped greatly from the excess.

Power the world

We could ship this oil all over the world, giving everyone ( well, that can pay) oil and the electricity made from it. With all this electricity, shortages and outages can be shortened due to excess power available. Hopefully they put this to good use as an excess of electricity can lower the electric bill too, or raise it depending on the circumstances.

Solve the oil crisis

With this oil created, we don’t need to worry about using up all of the non-renewable sources such as coal, oil, and natural gas.  These bugs produce oil at pretty good rate, much better than the few million years we have to wait to replenish the supply we have used. With factories with millions of these little bugs all producing oil, normal oil could be sold as commonly as water is today.

But they could pollute too

Don’t forget that these things make petroleum, which pollutes the air when burned. Although the oil does not pollute nearly as much, all the oil we have to use can build up over the years. With all the oil, we could use oil for about everything ( power/electric-wise) , which is not good for our environment. We have to take into consideration that using a lot of oil harms the atmosphere.

For the most part, these bugs are astonishing and will be a great help in the future. I’d say to expect these bugs to come into play real soon, maybe even by 2010. Hopefully this solves our worldwide oil crisis and helps lower gas prices. It’s time to change the world, one little bug at a time. Thank you for reading this.
