Phobia to Number 13

Do you know what it is?
Well it is a fear of the number 13. Why are we obsessed with 13 being unlucky?
According to some experts, the “evil” connection between Friday and the 13th may have its roots with the presence of 13 people at the Last Supper and Christ’s subsequent crucifixion on Good Friday .Since then when Friday is combined with the number 13 ,it is supposed to bring a double dose of misfortune.
Past disasters linked to the number 13 hardly help these people to overcome their affection. The most famous is the Apollo 13 mission .Apollo 13 left from Pad 39 (three times 13) at 13:13 local time .It was launched on April 11th ,1970:4(April is the fourth month of the year )+11+70=85;8+5=13:finally it was struck by disaster on April 13th ,when one of its oxygen tanks exploded.
Famous people with this phobia include Napoleon, Mark Twain and the German composer Richard Wagner.
Several key events in Wagner’s life including his birth in 1813 and death (February13, 1883) were linked to the number 13 United States president Franklin Roosevelt was a particularly severe case. He would cancel any lunch or dinner with 13 people round the table .He also avoided going on visits on the 13th of the month.
Maybe it’s just a superstition but how many buildings have you seen with a 13th floor or hotels with a room 13? Why take a chance?
