Real Life Ghost Busters?
Why are the paranormal investigators of TV such chickens? Are they really surprised when they find what they are looking for?
I haveverysharpintuition, often knowing what choice to make or whether a person is good or bad, not that I always follow my gut. I have experienced deja vu and dreamed about things that haven’t happened yet. I have known when a missing person will be found alive or not. This sixth sense is most likely what drives my interest in the paranormal that I have had for as long as I can remember.
I recently joined an amateur paranormal group. We have meetings to discuss the latest urban legends and talk about doing an actual ghost hunt- some day. Beforeever joining the group, I had experiences ofmy own.Two of the homes that I lived in as a child were occupied by ghosts. Both homes had strange occurrences on a regular basis. Appliances and lights turning on or off, things being moved, noises and shadows. I even saw a full apparition of a Union soldier one night. Despite my interest, I was terrified. I felt like there was always someone in the room with me and whatever it was, it did not feel like one of the good guys. I moved out of my parent’s home as soon as I could. When my husband and I bought our first home, I insisted on walking through the house alone so that Icould determine whether there were spirits residing. So far, so good.
Now that I am older and a little wiser (just a little), I want to go in search of spirits, of my own free will. To educate myself in the sport of ghost hunting I read articles, I went on a ghost walk in a haunted city and watch the popular ghost hunting television shows. It is the ghost hunting shows that baffle me most. These “investigators” are supposedly educated and trained in all things paranormal. The reason they are there is to look for ghosts. What confuses me is why they are scared and surprised when they do encounter something paranormal? They scream and run out of a room at everybump in the night even afterthey are told by countless witnesses that such-n-such happens. Do they not have faith in what they are doing? Are they only doing it for good TV and do not really expect it? When they are surprised or scared, is that the real thing and all the rest staged? Or is it scary every time, even when you go looking for it?
I know that TV can make anything happen and you can not believe everything you see. Based on my own experiences, I believe what I have experienced and I believe that others experience paranormal occurrences. If theparanormal investigators of television are really going into regular folks homes, I truly want to believe that they are for real. Believing in what they are doing, nothing staged even if nothing happens and number one priority is to help the client.
