Strange, Prophetic Dream: How is It Possible?
About a paranormal dream.
I once had this dream that was prophetic. The only difference with the other prophetic dreams was that the feelings in the dreams felt more real than reality. The dream was so disturbing that when I woke up, I felt relieved to realize that it was only a dream. However, the circumstances in the dream proved to be true two years later.
I remember the dream. It was very dark and ominous. I was married at the time, and I dreamed that my husband would have an affair with a woman at work. I felt tremendous, intense pain during the dream! It felt so real or perhaps more than real – if that is possible. I was crying and sobbing during the dream.
Perhaps this is a common dream for many of you, but if you had known my husband, you would never consider he would so such a thing. We had a Christian marriage sanctioned by the Church. At the time, I was very young, and it was the only thing that I could think of that was the worst thing that could happen to me.
When I reflect back about it, the dream occurred prior to the year I became pregnant with our first son. It was around the time that our infant son was just born, that my husband, who is now my ex-husband, began the affair.
It was not until two years later that he would leave his family for this other woman. It seems so phenomenal to me that I would foresee the future. I do not claim to be a psychic, and I do not understand why my dream came to me since I didn’t choose it. I can only try to fathom why the dream came to me — it was to prepare me for what was to come.
I was so dependent on my husband at the time that I didn’t think I could exist or function without him. My entire self-esteem was based on him and on our marriage. The psychological and emotional pains I felt during the dream were the same emotions I later felt when I acknowledged the affair, and I had come to realize that he would never return to me. I had to be very, very strong to endure what was to come for what was to be a life-altering event.
It is very infrequent that I would experience such intense reality in dreams, and I don’t know how to explain them. I have tried to do research on the web regarding “paranormal dreams”, but there seems to be no concrete explanation for them. It is a subject that science has yet to explore completely.
From my own perception, I believe that we all have a sixth sense. For whatever inexplicable reason at that random moment, I sensed that my ex-husband would have an affair — even though on a conscious level, it was inconceivable. We are able to sense from our subconscious hidden auras about people, events, and circumstances. Although our logical minds intrinsically cannot perceive them, our subconscious can “sense” what we don’t sense with our five senses of touch, see, hear, taste, and smell. Perhaps our sixth sense is that deep “gut” feeling that we have within our sub-consciousness that manifests itself through dreams. The sixth sense is our intuition.
It is my hope that one day, there would be a scientific explanation to paranormal dreams the way there is a scientific explanation to the reasons why all the modern inventions – the car, the airplane, the tank, the computer, the ATM machine all work.

I am a christian who does not get involved with things like this, since it is forbidden in scripture. But I have had these kind of dreams all throughout my life.
The most recent one: I dreamed that my famly was having financial trouble, and someone, (don’t recall who), put a note on neighbors mailboxes asking to help us. In the dream, I felt embarassment at this.
That morning as I was starting out to work, there was a small american flag with a note attached, taped to my mailbox. I noticed the same on neighbors mailboxes. The note was from a neighbor a bit further down the road whose son was coming home from Iraq, and she asked if I would leave the flag up on my mailbox, so he would see them on his route home.
I have surmised that if this was indeed a prophetic dream, then I was experiencing the feeling of reluctance and embarassment on someones part in the soldiers family, about placing unsolicited flags on peoples mailboxes.

Thank you, Cate for your comment. I believe that we have a sixth sense that could “see” certain events to unfold. However, not all of us are in tune with that sixth sense — as to why, I wouldn’t know. It’s very interesting that we could somehow predict the future. Does this mean that every event in our lives are predestined? If so, then how does free will play into the future? Perhaps these are rhetorical questions. There is a website where you can blog your dreams and people will respond to you. It’s all anonymous. They also try to give a scientific explanation to it.
