The Haunted White House
Here are some stories about ghosts seen in the White House.
The White House, home to the current president of the United States, is also the home of the former presidents. The former presidents, for your information, are not alive. Even though they are dead, they want everyone to know that they are there, watching their every move.
President Harrison is heard to be rummaging in the White House attic, as if searching for something. President Andrew Jackson is thought to haunt his old bedroom. And the ghost of the First Lady Abigail Adams was seen floating down one of the White House halls, as if she was carrying something.
The most frequently sighted presidential ghost is the ghost of Abraham Lincoln. A butler described his ghost to be polite and curious. If he wants your attention, he coughs softly or taps you on the shoulder. Eleanor Roosevelt once said that she believed that she felt the presence of Lincoln watching her while she was working in his bedroom. During the Roosevelt Administration, a young clerck claimed to have seen Lincoln’s ghost sitting on a bed and pulling off his boots. On another occasion, while spending a night at the White House, Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands was awakened by a knock at her bedroom door. When she opened her door, she faced Abraham Lincoln staring at her from the hallway.
So do you think that the White house is really haunted? Or is it just a figment of someone’s imagination? Thats up to you to decide.
