The Lizard Man
For decades, South Carolinians have reported a seven foot tall creature with green, scaly skin.
A couple in Bishopville, South Carolina, Bob and Dixie Rawson, reported strange damage to their vehicle and traces of blood in February, 2008. Along with the car damage, the Rawsons could not find their cats where they usually sleep. Some people in the Bishopville say they know what did all of this damage – the Lizard Man.
The existence of the Lizard Man has never been confirmed. The creature is described as having green, scaly feet and red glowing eyes, and to stand about seven feet tall. The attack reminded Dixie Rawson of the Lizard Man legend that goes back decades. Dixie wondered if the Lizard Man had returned. Authorities extracted a sample of blood found on the Rawson’s van and sent it off for DNA analysis.
16 year old Christopher Davis made the first sighting of Lizard Man while driving home from work at 2AM on June 29, 1988. Davis said the creature grabbed at his car and then jumped on its roof. The Lizard Man clung to it as Davis swerved from side to side trying to throw it off. Christopher said,”I looked back and saw something running across the field towards me.”
During the next month, there were more reports of a lizard like creature. There were also bite marks and scratches on cars parked close to the swamp. The Sheriff’s department made plastic casts of what seemed like three-toed footprints. Tourists, interested in seeing the Lizard Man, were attracted by the sightings. On August 5, Kenneth Orr reported to the police that he had run across the creature on Highway 15. Orr claimed to have shot and wounded the Lizard Man.
In October 2005, a woman in Newberry, South Carolina, told police that she had seen two creatures outside her home. The creatures looked like the Lizard Man.
