The Mysterious Vortex House in Oregon
by Throughout the world there are unusual and strange places that are the basis for legends and tall tales. Many stories of haunted houses have been passed down over the years. One location has been proven not to be an urban legend. The unexplained occurrences happen to all the visitors. It is the Vortex House in Oregon.
Deep in the woods of Oregon is a small patch of land that seems to ignore all the laws of physics. This area known as the Oregon vortex is where the Oregon Mystery House sits. Native Americans called it the “Forbidden Ground”. Locals say that it is impossible to stand up straight anywhere in the vortex. Scientists have struggled to explain the phenomena at this location. Everyone who has visited this house has agreed on one thing – it is like no other house on earth.
The House Of Mystery, as it is now called, was built in 1890 by a company called the Old Grey Eagle Mining Company. Miners came to the office to have their gold weighed. Many of them complained that the scales were inaccurate and no one could explain why. The house slid down a hill in 1910 and came to rest where it stands today. The house sits at an angle and is partially below ground.
The unexplained phenomena is said to extend 165 feet from the house. People claim that standing in the area will make you grow smaller or taller. Balls have been known to roll uphill. Compasses will not function properly in the area. Wildlife will not go anywhere near the strange area.
The vortex has become a tourist attraction with thousands of visitors annually. Some claim that it heals back injuries. Others say that no matter where you stand, you will always lean north. The visitors seem to agree on one thing, the laws of physics seemed to have passed over this area.

There is a similar place like that in Santa Cruz, CA (Mystery Spot). I have been there and it is strange and fascinating.
