The Paranormal World

Over the last few decades the interest of the Psychic and Paranormal world had escalated, from small fortune tellers to claimed psychics. Many books, documentaries, programmes, courses in Parapsychology, organizations, seminars about the Paranormal and Psychic world has been released. Because of this we can now speak openly about different alternative healings without being ridducled in the process. However despite all this attention, we still don’t really understand their true nature, their true abilities whether it be true or false. The word Psychic itself comes from the Greek word Psychikos which means “of the soul, mental” that refers to a claimed ability to perceieve information through extrasensory perception rather than the normal senses.

We do know that Psychic traditions have existed since the beginning of recorded history, not only psychic but there is also a belief in ghosts as well as communication with the dead has also been present in a lot of different cultures. For instance, we know that the ancient Greeks used oracles at sacred locations to give prophecies of the future and the Romans looked to the stars for messages from the invisible realm. The Aztecs in Mexico used Astrology and Oracles as well. 

There are supposedly different psychic abilities, what Psychics can use, for instance Astral Projection is a common, popular experience that Psychics claim to experience. Astral Projection is an out of body experience, where an astral body becomes seperate from the Physical world, to travel in  the astral plane. In China, a taoist alchemical practice involves the creation of an energy body by breathing meditations, drawing energy into a pearl or sphere of energy that is then circulated around the body. Astral Projection is quite popular in the media such as in the Jackie Chan Adventures, one of the 12 talismans, the sheep talisman grants the user astral projection.

Another ability that is quite popular is Bilocation, which is the term used to describe the ability or instances where an indvidual or in unusual cases an object is said to be or appears to be in two distinct different places at the same instant in time, for example one man appearing in two different places at once, and obviously this can’t be doubles or twins etc. Biolocation is also known as Doppleganger, is also thought to be a death omen especially if one sees their own doppleganger. Doppleganger comes from the German meaning ‘double walker’.
