The state of Massachusetts is one of America’s oldest and most haunted states. Here is a list of some of the scariest and most paranormally active places in the state.
Coffin House (Nantucket, Massachusetts)
Located at 52 Centre Street, this mid 18th-century home is supposedly haunted. Built by a mariner Joshua Coffin in 1754, it even has a secret room in it, that is only accessible through a trap door in the attic.
The current owners of the property admit that they have witnessed poltergeist activity taking place here in the building. Another report says that people have seen a old man ghost sitting in a rocking chair.
The Jared Coffin House offers a uniqueness that can only be found at a place that brings together perfectly the best of Nantucket’s past and present. Rooms can be rented for overnight stays and ghost hunters are definitely welcomed here too.
Concord Colonial Inn. (Concord, Massachusetts)
Room 24 on the second floor of the Concord Colonial Inn. is supposedly haunted. Reports of a grayish midst figure floating throughout the room have been made by more then one guest staying in that room. In the past, the Inn. and room 24 have been investigated by paranormal research groups, and evidence has been captured here on a few different occasions.
Emerson Majestic Theatre (Boston , Massachusetts)
This theatre was built in 1903. Since then it has opened and closed a number of times for a number of different reasons. On one occasion when it was closed down, it was left to ruin and left to fall apart. During this time, strange occurrences started to take place in the theatre. Since then, the place has been reopened again and it is finally being fully restored to its old beauty but still the strange happenings continue.
There are many theories as to who might haunt the theatre. A little child ghost has been seen and even heard on a few occasions. A number of witnesses have caught quick glimpses of the child ghost only to have them disappear seconds later. The third floor balcony has also been rumored to be haunted. The seats have been known to be pushed down by unknown forces and even though the balcony has been closed to the public for many years now, people have been spotted sitting up there for a few seconds until they too disappear into thin air.
The Emerson Majestic theatre is a wonderful place to see and having the ghost stories and legends here, makes it that much more of an interesting place to go to.
