The State of Illinois Most Haunted Places

This describes the scariest and most haunted places in the state of Illinois.

The land of Lincoln has its share of alledgedly haunted places. Here is a short list of some of the more haunted places around the state of Illinois.

BACHELOR’S GROVE CEMETERY

(Midlothian, Illinois)
Located just outside of the city of Chicago, in a small southwest suburb called Midlothian, stands whats left of one of the most haunted places in the world. Bachelor’s Grove cemetery is a small, abandoned graveyard that is hidden within a forest preserve. It is very paranormally active and many reports of its hauntings have been made for many decades now.

Pictures of spirits, and orbs, and photos of strange lights have all been captured here by many different people. Some reports of a ghost riding a horse have also been made here in this erie little cemetery. Floating colored light balls and a disappearing ghost house have also been seen here around the Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery.

In the old days, it is believed that gangsters dumped bodies into the Bachelor’s Grove Pond that lays next to the cemetery. A 1920’s black car has also been seen here disappearing as soon as it appears. Reports of this phantom car running other drivers off the road have also been reported on more then one occasion. Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery is a very erie place to visit day or night. A feeling of uneasiness surrounds the destroyed cemetery, and a sense of dread over takes you while there. Maybe its because of the past devil worship that has taken place here, or maybe the spirits that are stuck here, but visitors can just feel a strange presence while inside the haunted cemetery.

Graceland Cemetery (Chicago, Illinois)

Located in the windy city at 4001 N. Clark Street on the northside. Graceland Cemetery is a very beautiful, historic, haunted cemetery that has its share of ghost stories.

One of the strangest stories reported at Graceland cemetery is that of a statue of a 6-year-old girl named Inez Clark who was struck and killed by lightning. It is claimed that the statue disappears from its glass case during thunderstorms, and that the ghost of the little girl goes roaming around in the graveyard until the storm is over. Once the police were even called when the statue was supposedly missing.

This Cemetery also has an unusual bronze statue of a hooded figure called Eternal Silence. There is a legend that if you look into the statues eyes you will glimpse the afterlife.
