Virginia Beach: Unexplained Lights and Explosion Explained?
A possible explanation of what really happened on the east coast the evening of March 29th.
On Sunday evening at 9:45 eastern time, March 29th, thousands of people from southern Maryland to northern North Carolina experienced something that went unexplained for a few days. The region around Virginia Beach seems to be the epicenter of whatever it was that took place based on eyewitness reports. The most descriptive of these reports include a streaking light in the sky that was orange in color on the front and trailing a blue light followed by the sound of a loud explosion that shook the foundations of homes. Most simply report a bright flash in the sky followed by a loud boom.
It really only gained local media attention more than anything. The first major media report came on Tuesday from the Fox News website. In that report, an official from the US Naval Observatory said that it was more than likely a piece of space debris. More specifically, it was claimed to have been a portion of a Russian space shuttle. The following video is footage of a satellite entering the atmosphere and burning up.
What you just saw would definitely fit the reports of a streaking light. But, we are still missing two very important factors here. One is that this would not bee seen as “the whole sky lighting up with a bright flash,” from witnesses that are a full state away from each other. The next missing factor is the explosion. Space debris usually burns up harmlessly in our atmosphere. Even if some pieces did make it through to impact the earth, there is no type of space junk that we have that could create the same type of explosion. The explosion would be more localized to its epicenter and would definitely not shake the foundations of hundreds of homes. I must also remind you that there is still no evidence that any explosion ever even happened. All we have are witness reports of shaking widows, dishes and screen doors. No impact site of any sort has been found. No flattened trees, fire damage or a crater of any size. The last nail in the coffin for this theory is the simple fact that the space debris from the Russian shuttle entered earth’s atmosphere over Taiwan two hours after the event happened on the east coast.
The latest official theory was from the director of the Chesapeake Planetarium who believes it to have been a basketball-sized meteor traveling more than 100,000 miles per hour. I have to say that I now assign myself to this theory. The speed of sound is approximately 761 miles per hour. A meteor traveling more than 130 times the speed of sound easily creates an impressive sonic boom. Watch this video of a jet breaking the sound barrier at a little more than 761 miles per hour and then imagine the sound a meteor could produce at 100,000 miles per hour.
The following video is actual footage of a similar sized meteor entering our atmosphere over western Australia. Notice how closely it coincides with the eyewitness reports above.
What do you think? Based on what you have just seen, the meteor theory is the most plausible and probable. Occam’s razor states that the simplest of all possible theories is usually the most likely. The meteor theory explains everything that took place in Virginia Beach on March 29th. A meteor entering the atmosphere is an amazing event in itself but, now that it is explained, some of the interest is gone. It is a little more fun believing that there is some sort of government conspiracy covering up underground experimentation with the earth’s eclectro-magnetic field. Hey, why not throw the alien theory in there as well? It is certainly possible that a UFO crashed to the earth and the men in black cleaned it up and kept it quiet, right?

Thanks for the update. Might not ever find out what it was. The way it has been described, it was probably very interesting, to say the least. The thing that really bothers me is that the government, or whoever would provide info on this, can lie all day about it. They don’t have to give us the truth, and they most likely won’t. It is very upsetting. Thanks very much for sharing what you know…I appreciate your articles and enjoyed them very much. Take care, and I will check back with you soon.

There is an explanation for everything, just need to know which is the right one. Great job here, friend, fan, smile

Awww, you spoiled all the fun. I was making up a conspiracy theory about it.

lmao I know, I am sorry, Phill. I was actually a little disappointed to come across the above information as well. As far as I was concerned lines of flux from the earth’s electro-magnetic field were snapping and releasing a charge from the surface. I thought it was the beginning of a magnetic field collapse.

I saw a bolide like that once back when I lived in western New York state, driving home from work late one night. It flashed & sparkled… at first I thought a State Trooper car was behind me with the flashing lights on (except they were brilliant white and not the expected red & blue.)
The bolide emerged from under the cloudcover and continued somewhat westerly direction. The flaming more-or-less extinquished as the falling object neared the visual horizon, which would be perhaps 150-200 miles away (about the farthest you can see around the curvature of the Earth) so, assuming that the burning-up had ceased at around 5-miles up, the now ‘black object’ would be in fall.
The next day I read that it crashed into the western end of Lake Erie or something like that… a few hundred miles west of where I had seen it pass overhead.
Unless the ‘fireball’ just about stops flaming directly overhead, it’s trajectory will be expected to deposit the falling object hundreds of miles away. In this video it appears to still be ‘burning’ as it disappears over the horizon… and as such, probably continued for quite a distance.
When I was a child I remember seeing a massive bolide flying over New York… and the next day reports said that it hit the Pacific Ocean several hundred miles west of California…

My bet goes with meteor. Saw one in in the midwest, and it did light up the sky, at least to human eyes, so nothing strange there.
